About VeriSign Trust Seal
1. How does reselling the VeriSign Trust Seal help my domain resale business?
Many small businesses struggle to draw traffic to their Web sites and to generate the confidence to buy, click, and sign in online. The VeriSign Trust Seal shows visitors that the web site has been verified by the leader in online trust and gives them the confidence to click. By reselling the VeriSign Trust Seal, you can differentiate your service, reduce customer churn, and increase profits.
2. Who is the target customer for the VeriSign Trust Seal?
Any web site or merchant that needs visitors to trust their site, but does not need the security of SSL, is an ideal customer. Examples:
- Ecommerce: The VeriSign Trust Seal is perfect for online retailers that outsource their payment or shopping cart. Your customers can post the VeriSign Trust Seal to give their customers the confidence to buy online.
- Publishers: The VeriSign Trust Seal helps publishers establish credibility, so their click-throughs increase.
- Small business owners: The VeriSign Trust Seal helps small business owners bring that same level of trust to their web site that they’ve built in their neighborhood.
3. What is the VeriSign Trust Seal?

The VeriSign Trust Seal helps businesses establish credibility online. When a web site displays the VeriSign Trust Seal, it shows that VeriSign has verified the identity of the web site and its owners. The seal also means that the web site has passed VeriSign’s daily malware scan so visitors can use the site with confidence.
4. How does the VeriSign Trust Seal reassure visitors?
Growing concerns about fake sites, viruses, and identity theft have made consumers reluctant to do business with web sites they don’t know and brands that are not familiar to them. As a result, small businesses struggle to draw traffic to their web sites and to generate the confidence to buy, click, and sign in online. The VeriSign Trust Seal tells web site visitors that the most trusted brand on the internet has verified the site’s identity and that the site has passed the VeriSign malware scan.
5. How is the VeriSign Trust Seal different from other business seals?
Yes. Customer case studies have shown an average increase in transactions of 24% (ranging between 10% and 36%) when web sites display the VeriSign Trust Seal. Sites that display the VeriSign Trust Seal on their pages, and use an SSL certificate during checkout, maximize customer retention and purchase completion.
7. Can the VeriSign seal help increase traffic from search engines?

The VeriSign Trust Seal includes Seal-in-Search, which identifies VeriSign trusted sites and display the VeriSign seal next to search results in enabled browsers. To see how the VeriSign Trust Seal is displayed in search results, download the free AVG LinkScanner.
In addition, a daily malware scan helps reduce the risk of becoming blacklisted by search engines. No matter how much search optimization and advertising, if a site is blacklisted, it will not be displayed in search results and viewing may be blocked by some browsers.
8. What is malware?
Malware is a general term for malicious software and is a growing problem on the Internet. Hackers install malware without your consent by exploiting security weaknesses on your server and gaining access to your web site code. The malware code is not visible or easily detected, and may infect customers' computers when they simply browse your web site. Hackers use it to spread viruses, hijack your computer or steal sensitive data such as credit card numbers or other personal information.
9. Do I need to be the registrant of the domain name?
The domain name which will be associated with the VeriSign Trust Seal must be legally registered and VeriSign must be able to verify that the Trust Seal applicant either owns the domain name or has exclusive rights to use it.

2. Technical FAQs
2.1. I’ve purchased the VeriSign Trust Seal. What’s next?
Once you’ve purchased the VeriSign Trust Seal, you must complete the application process in the account management page and submit it for approval. And, if this domain uses ID Protect, it must be disabled until VeriSign has verified the domain ownership.
-
If the domain has ID Protect, click “Registered Domains”. Navigate to the domain and click the ID Protect icon. Select “Unprotected” and click “save changes”.
-
To configure VeriSign Trust Seal, open the “Security” menu, hover on “VeriSign Trust Seal”, and then click “Manage”. In the row for the Trust Seal you want to configure, click “Configure Now”. Complete the form and click “Submit for Approval”.
-
If you select “Individual” in the “User Type” menu, you will receive an email from VeriSign with “Identity Authentication for Your VeriSign Trust Seal for Individuals” in the subject line. The email contains a link to an Equifax identity verification page. You must provide this information to complete the VeriSign verification process.
VeriSign will first verify the information you provide including domain name ownership, contact information and malware scan. You’ll receive an email confirming the activation of your Trust Seal once validation is completed.
It takes up to 5 days for VeriSign to verify identity and approve the Trust Seal.
Once approved, you will embed a VeriSign Trust Seal script in your web code. The script will display on our web site, on your VeriSign Trust Seal details page.
2.2. I’ve received email confirming that VeriSign has verified my identity. How do I get the Trust Seal onto my web site?
Log in. In the “Manage Services” section, click “VeriSign Trust Seal”. Click the domain name for which you’ve received the confirmation email. Copy the script in the “Embed” text box and paste it into your web page code.

2.3. What if VeriSign rejects my application for the VeriSign Trust Seal?
If your application is rejected, you will be notified and we will issue a refund for your purchase price.
2.4. I submitted incorrect information for VeriSign’s verification process. How do I correct it?
Contact our customer service to cancel the order and purchase a new VeriSign Trust Seal subscription.
2.5. What if my web site fails a malware scan?
If VeriSign detects malware during their daily scan, it deactivates the Trust Seal on the web site and notifies the web site owner by email that it has done so. The notification includes details about the type of malware and the infected pages, and provides a link to detailed information. This notification system allows the owner to take rapid corrective actions and submit a request for a scan to reactivate the VeriSign Trust Seal.
